About John Kelleher

John Kelleher, a graduate of Boston State College with a B.S. in Elementary Education, was a fourth grade teacher in Everett, Massachusetts for over ten years. During these years, John also performed musical comedy throughout the Boston area. Coming from a musically talented family, John has an innate appreciation and respect for the connection between music and its effect on children’s development.

Since leaving the teaching profession in 1989, John has become a recognized name in the Children’s music industry. Performing over 200 shows annually, John has attained national and international prominence with highly acclaimed performances across the United States and Canada, including back-by-popular demand performances at the Tampa Bay Performing Arts Center, Tampa, FL; Andy Griffith Playhouse, Mount Airy, NC; Bethlehem Musikfest in Bethlehem, PA; Longwood Gardens in Philadelphia, PA; and countless theaters, festivals, and community performances across North America. After performing at the Northern Alberta International Children’s Festival in St. Albert, Canada, John was voted “the favorite of the festival."

John's dynamic and inspiring programs for young audiences (as well as Moms, Dads, and Grandparents) balance timely messages of environmental conservation, cultural diversity, positive behavior, self-esteem, and drug abuse awareness with music, dialogue, visual props, and lots of audience participation. John's first recording, Party in the Park, was a winner of the prestigious Parents' Choice Gold Award. In regard to this recording, Parent's Choice Magazine says: "For giggles and fun, it would be hard to beat this snappy, teasing grab bag of children's music favorites. John's vocals light up this top quality musical treat."
